Rogue Traders
Please be aware that there have been several reports of rogue traders operating in the area, offering groundwork and maintenance work such as tarmacing driveways, tree lopping, gutter or roofing work. One such company is trading as J & R Groundwork and drives around in a silver transit van.
Once again can we remind everyone to be wary of cold callers offering to carry out work straight away. The standard of work is often overpriced and of an inferior standard and having been given work on one occasion they are likely to return on a fairly regular basis.
Police want to know when they are in your neighbourhood, so please call them on the non emergency number 0845 8 505 505 with descriptions of clothing, vehicle type and registration numbers. If resources are available, they will be checked and it all leads to intelligence gathering.
We are also appealing for copies of any leaflets/flyers advertising by suspect maintenance workmen. These can be forwarded to the Amersham Watch Office using the FREEPOST address Thames Valley Police, King George V Road, Amersham. HP6 5AZ.
Doorstep Crime Legislation requires unsolicited callers to provide a seven day written notice of cancellation before carrying out work which costs more than £35. For more information click on the following link:
